アゼチの岬

The Kiritappu Peninsula has two great scenic locations: Cape Kiritappu at its eastern edge and Cape Azechi at its western edge.
Cape Azechi sticks out into Biwase Bay and affords sweeping views of islands off the coast: Kojima Island, Gome Island and Kenbokki Island. The cape also commands a distant view of the shorelines of Biwase Bay and Hamanaka Bay, and the sunset along the shorelines during midsummer is breathtaking.
Kojima Island, which can be seen from Cape Azechi, is a nesting ground for tufted puffins, the official bird of the town. Gome Island, which can be seen from Cape Kiritappu, was also once a nesting site for tufted puffins. In this way, Hamanaka Town has numerous small islands and rocks providing stopover sites and habitats for many seabirds.
Visitors to Cape Azechi may have the opportunity to see large numbers of kelp boats going out to sea on a clear day at the height of kelp harvesting season. The spectacular sight of these boats that appear to be racing one another with a roar is sure to give visitors a feel for the dynamism of men of the sea.
